ASUS Eee Pad MeMO 3D verschijnt pas in 2012

ASUS Eee Pad MeMO 3D delayed again

Earlier this year ASUS presented a few new tablets, including the Eee Transformer Pad, Eee Pad Slider and the Eee Pad MeMO. The Eee Pad Transformer is now a successful tablet and the launch of the Eee Pad Slider is scheduled for late September. But, what about the Eee Pad MeMO?

The MeMO should have been on the shelves earlier this year had earlier but ASUS wanted to add a unique feature just before launch. During the Computex 2011 ASUS presented the Eee Pad MeMO 3D; a 7-inch tablet with a glasses-free 3D display. The expectation was that we could find the Eee Pad MeMO 3D in stores by September or October this year, but today a source at ASUS The Netherlands tells us that “if the tablet is launched, it will not make its appearance until some time in 2012”. Two important things here; it is uncertain whether the MeMO 3D will be launched in the Netherlands (and elsewhere?) and the launch is delayed until 2012.

I wonder if the unique feature of the MeMO 3D will still be a unique feature then. Perhaps, the honor of the first glasses-free 3D tablet now goes to another company. ASUS could not elaborate on the reason for the late launch (or delay). In January 2012 we will have been waiting for a year after the initial product presentation.
